Lona Link 400x600

Her story: Her sire Apollo earned his Grand Championship in February 2014. His Sire, GCH Spring Valley’s Pele, has more titles than this website can hold. Apollo is owned and loved by breeder/owner/handler Carla Downey. SoCo, a champion herself, prefers to stay at home and oversee the Spring Valley Equestrian Center with her mom, Christine Land, daughter of Marie Cotton. A gorgeous red girl with a mischievous streak, Soco gave our Lona a face to admire and a coat that glistens.

Her show career: First, she went to camp, learning show basics, as well as some manners. Lona has the spirit of her granddam Spring Valley’s Ophelia and the deep soulful eyes of her grandsire, Spring Valley’s Rolling Stone “Jagger”.  Like her granddam, Ophelia, Lona looks straight into you and will not be denied.
Lona began her show career at the end of February 2014. She proved to be a force in the show ring. In just weeks, she earned Winner’s Bitch, Best of Winners, Best Puppy, Puppy Group 1 & 2, as well as Best of Breed. In her first month on the road, Lona earned 4 points, two Puppy Group 2 and a Puppy Group 1 and all of this out of the 6 – 9 month puppy class. Lona left the ring in November 2014 with just a major left to earn. She joined us in New Zealand for two years, while we were living there. This break gave Lona the time she needed to mature and returned to the ring in September of 2016. She had to wait two long months for majors to come around, but she finally got the shot at winning her championship in November.
